Version Notes
This section summarizes the major changes in different versions, from Version 8.5 onward, including changes to Enterprise Server and (obsolete) SBE Spooler.
Version 8.30 improves production of tabbed text from lookup
files and repairs a seldom-occurring bug where the second line of an
indented tabbed-text lookup was improperly indented. This change was
made for tabbed inserts into insurance contacts.
Released August 2023.
Version 8.29: Minor changes including bug fixes and a
further re-iteration of the change to 8-28.
Released March 2022.
Version 8.28: Provides simplified handling of optional data
in detail records.
Released January 2022
This version includes options that provide easy definition of
sometime present, sometimes absent parts of a text object, with
corrected suppression of redundant line feeds.
This is a rework of the existing Text formatting, Remove
empty lines button.
Version 8.27: Provides the new Delivery tag SMTPReplyTo,
plus fixes.
Released February 2021, Version 8.27.5 released September 2021
This version includes four separate changes:
New Delivery Tag value smtpReplyTo allows differentiation between Sender (smtpFrom) and Reply To (smtpReplyTo) - reseller request.
Fix to the formula that calculates Report Last Page when no formatting (form) is defined.
Fix to a conflict trying to use of square brackets in a RegEx syntax for range, (eg [A-Z]) as well as a FormTrap syntax for a field name(eg [master/field]). Previously you were unable to use both in a "match" RegEx rule.
Fix to GS1-128 barcode.
AI 90 through 99 are defined by GS1 as Company Internal Information,
(former EAN/UPC specification was AIs 90 through 95), range extended
to include 96 through 99).
Version 8.26: Correction to Version 7 Print Logic - does not impact FTForm Plus forms
This corrects the assumption from 2003-04 that assumes 2-digit dates above 21 would be 1921. Dates from 21 to 50 now assume 2021.
Version 8.25: File size reduction for PDF output, changes to Formatting for optional fields, font size bug fix, release July 2020
This version includes modifications to dramatically reduce output logo size for PDF output only, includes a re-work of the Delete empty fields ... function of Text formatting and removes incorrect truncation of fractional font sizes.
Version 8.24: Addition of Data Matrix ECC 200 barcode, other minor changes, release April 2020
Data Matrix ECC 200 2-D barcodes added, minor changes, correction to rule Change in text which was not working.
Version 8.23: Mixed numeric conventions (e.g. English 1,234.56 and German 1.234,56) in one document. Release February 2020
This minor change allows a document with mixed conventions to output in a different and/or common convention.
Version 8.22: Drag 'n Drop defined fields to Form. Release September 2019
Drag 'n Drop facility added to allow fields, Formula and Variables to be dragged and dropped from the Document lists to the form to quickly establish required data fields. Each field may then require edits for position, font, size, color, alignment and format (dates, numbers).
This release includes a modification to the Locale window (Form
view, Format group,
Locale icon) that allows a data field or lookup value containing language-Country
to identify the Date or Numeric convention to use for field
formatting. EG: french_France, 20191231 output as 31
déc. 2019 or german-Germany output as 31 Dez. 2019
Version 8.21: "NCR" Paper Change (allows different input
bins for Page-Collated copies). Released August 2019
Provides an additional prompt in Printing Options which allow Page Collated output where each copy is picked from a different input bin to output as NCR paper sets per document page.
Version 8.20: Automated Date, Quantity and Amount formats based on a master variable
Minor change, Version 8.20.4, May 2019, add Printing Options icon to Form, Page area (alternate and simpler selection of this existing DB). Bin Selections for Ricoh printer not operating (in different place from other printers), repaired.
Minor change, Version 8.20.3, April 2019 repairs to Literal and
Window sizing, also allows a RegEx comparison with an empty field
(used to determine if a character is beyond the line end).
Minor change, Version 8.20.2, February 2019 allows Processing tab, Options to be case insensitive (formerly lower case only).
Dates, Amounts and Numbers may be automatically formatted, based on
ISO codes included in the Master data. This applies to forms where
the destination country is a variable in data and does not impact
forms for the one country. This allows (for example) one form to
serve all EU countries presenting their conventions for Date
Literals and Format, as well as Numeric and Currency representation.
Version 8.18: Minor Repairs, released October 2018.
Bug in Unicode Range selections repaired.
Prompt Text changes for compliance between menu item and window.
Version 8.17: FTForm Plus released September 2018, with
FormTrap Server 8.17.
Released to comply with changes to the FormTrap Server version
8.17, where passwords will secure PDF files and the version of the
output PDF file may be nominated.
Version 8.16: FTForm Plus released September 2018, with
FormTrap Server 8.16.
Version 8.16 provides copy control for multiple copies of a document, within the document. Where extensive formatting changes are required (such as Invoice with Pick List), use doc copy (see Enterprise manual HERE).
A new master variable named copy_control is used in conjunction with the pre-defined variable current copy to control the printing of overlaid copy identifiers (such as Accounts Copy).
The other main use is for Box 12 of 30 shipping labels with repetitive labels from one source document.
Version 8.15: FTForm Plus released December 2017, with
FormTrap Server 8.15.
Version 8.15 provides these upgrades:
Changes to the PCLXL (PCL6) routines to
cover for changes in HP's PCLXL routines where all older printer
versions operate, however the HP LaserJet 4xx dn printers no
longer handle FormTrap PCLXL output for download fonts (eg Arial)
which are resident fonts. Rejected by the printer. This change
allows PCLXL files to operate with the new HP printers.
Extended formula to allow inter-field comparisons in Layout
rules.
Dialogue boxes allow fast selection of field names for
records with 20 or more fields (speed of design change).
Additional attention to help linkages.
Version 8.14: FTForm Plus not released. (Combined with Version 8.15)
Version 8.14 provided these upgrades:
Case control on text fields
(Lower, Upper and Title case), implemented in the Data, Field
dialogue Box
Display repairs to the pronunciation symbols (diacritics) for
Thai and Vietnamese languages (these were and are always
printed/formatted correctly).
Major updates to Help linkages
Version 8.13: FTForm Plus release August 2017, FormTrap Server release September (anticipated)
Version 8.13 of FTForm Plus provides user controls over highlighting and transparency of text objects and non-selected layers in Form view. Additional and finer manual references are provided. This release improves the user experience, however does not impact functionality.
Version 8.13 of FormTrap Server replaces the prior (Version 2) FireBird with current (Version 3) and is a transparent change. Associated changes via new program DBSetup allows change to the FireBird password(s) and user-changing of the FireBird DB location.
Other changes (such as allowing for later versions of Exchange "throttling" of emails) also be included.
Version 8.12: (release September 2016)
Version 8.12 provides Variables with value sourced from Lookups - used initially to save the GST Rate outside the forms for QDEs and for forms calculating GST from a constant value in Formula. This change allows the same form to be used in multiple countries where VAT is different.
Version 8.11: (release June 2016)
Version 8.11.0.4, changes defined for customer with complex
delivery requirements determined from data:
1. Multiple rules for delivery tags (similar to layout text objects)
2. Allows BodyText delivery tag to quote relative path name as well
as absolute path name
Inclusion of HTML Email with PDF file in one email (via an
application).
Inclusion of TLS/SSL Emails (HTML Email with PDF via Gmail,
Hotmail, Yahoo and other third-party email systems).
Version 8.10
Inclusion of HTML Email into Designer.
The above are available to publish to your web site - for example,
copies of invoices, renewals, contracts etc. for clients to view via
the Web (you'd need the web site to let users get at their
documents) but also promotions, competitions, testimonials etc.
Inclusion of objects in lookups via their [master/FldName]
handles, allowing populated clauses in HTML Emails, contracts etc.,
see HERE).
This with QDE provides the Email Express facility in
FormTrap.
New Processing tab Option for insurance contact
printing where clauses are taken from lookup:
-x strict produces an error message and stops that document being published where any lookup does not return a value. This was suggested by Manulife where occasionally not all lookup entries are in place when a new product (paper contract) is released. This stops processing on the new product until all items are found.
Versions 8.8 and 8.9
Major change to allow Layout objects to split across a page
boundary, required for lengthy Insurance contract clauses, useful
for Serial Numbers and long objects in business forms.
8.9 was an almost immediate bug fix to the above.
QDE Release into Documentation
The full Quick Data Entry Tutorial and updated Data Entry manual
was released 1st May 2015.
Version 8.7 - Quick Data Entry
This adds a new input document type to FTForm Plus called QDE. This
is used by a sold-per-seat routine to generate FormTrap XML which is
directly submitted to FormTrap from seats on PCs, inclding tablets.
Program is also stand alone producing PDF forms then uses
Adobe to print, email and store.
A QDE-only version of FTForm Plus is available at a greatly
reduced price.
Version 8.6 - Technical Improvement for Super-Sized Files
These changes were technical in nature and aimed at improving
performance at a bank where total transactions for the month are run
through FormTrap to archive to a third-party archiving system.
Volumes are in 000,000 of documents per input file, of which there
are many.
This job is on-going, however we were able to chop time by a factor
of three and are working on improving that further.
The second consideration is clearing the FormTrap working archive as
times where the system is completely idle, hence deletes can be done
are few and far between. This is ongoing.
Version 8.5
Version 8.5 is the first "Review" change and consolidated the separated "Edit" icons into one group that is constant in the top menu. The former "Records" group is removed and group menus simplified.
Other changes include ability to copy and paste Formulas, Variables
and Delivery Tags.
These elements are copied only where any fields they rely on are
present in the destination record.
We changed all references to "template" to "data file" as templates are used for model forms, whereas data file is always the input data.
This version included these major changes:
- Ability to treat a detail as an Explicite Group Header for information that heads following details
- Ability to designate "Redundant" areas and have those removed from the Data (text) display
- Indented and justified paragraphs from Lookup entries
- maildoc and printdoc entries (inserted emailed or print-ready files) appended to output
