Introduction to FormTrap
FormTrap's production environment receives, identifies, splits into individual documents, formats and automatically delivers finished documents. Formatting produces a deliverable document (PCL and PostScript for printing, PDF for email, tiff for faxing, HTML for Emailing). Delivery methods include printing, email, fax, outputting as a file to a nominated location on the disk or initiating your other tasks to accomplish additional delivery methods or other processes.
Version 8.9 introduced HTML Email, Version 8.11 included TSL/SSL Email (Office 365, Gmail, Yahoo, others).
Connection
This is the FormTrap Connection Window for the Enterprise Edition. To view how to connect press HERE.
The top navigation bar shows Connection, Queues, Data folders, Archive, and Setup.
- Connection connect clients to FormTrap Server
on the same machine, or remotely over the Windows network or the
Internet.
Connection is absent for SBE (Small Business Edition) program.
- Queues window is used to manage queues. The concept of the queue is central to FormTrap, and queues are normally allocated to specific delivery points (printers or methods (fax)). For Version 8, queue structure is simplified. For Version 7, queues allows document identification, splitting, re-direction, formatting and delivery. Before starting design of queues please first select Setup to configure FormTrap settings and then Data folders window to load form and resource files.
- Data folders is used to manage resource files such as forms (designed in V7 FTDesign and V8 FTForm Plus), (V7) rule files which identify and split incoming files and lookup files. Use this after configuring FormTrap via Setup. Use this view to update forms or rule files or to add new lookup files.
- Archive accesses job processing and delivery information, and allows searching for information via searches for specific attributes of a document or job. Troubleshooting shows errors and explanations of the errors. This is NOT intended as a business archive, there is an option specifically for that purpose, see HERE.
- Setup configures FormTrap settings. This is the first screen to visit after installation. Configure printer licenses, email server parameters, define data input methods and set locations for resource files. Once FormTrap has been set, you will rarely need to access this screen again.
