QDE & FormTrap Server Setup
QDE program is common to both a full FormTrap Server setup
and to casual use from Windows seats only. This section explains how
to set up the FormTrap Server. For details on installation stand
alone, press HERE.
Samples may be viewed HERE.
Using FormTrap Server (or SBE Spooler) to process forms automatically
Output from the FTForm Plus Build in QDE mode is the normal
.ftzip file which may contain any number of QDEs. The file is
directly loaded by the FormTrap Server (via Data Folder, New
folder or Reload forms), see HERE.
For QDEs on PC submitted to the FormTrap Server, ensure the settings
are correct.
Start QDE via this icon , and press and
either check or set these values:
- Forms, enter the FormTrap Server forms folder for QDEs (..\fthome\V7\Data\QDEFolder where QDEFolder may vary.
- Substitutions: Look at FTClient,
Data folders, the above QDEFolder, Folder
properties and check whether Use private substitution
files is ticked.
- Ticked, enter ..\fthome\V7\Data\QDEFolder\FTDATA\FTSUBST
- Unticked, enter ..fthome\V7\substitutions (generic substitutions).
- FormTrap Server folder: Look at FTClient, Queues, the above QDEQueue to find the correct queue. Enter as ..\fthome\V7\input\QDEQueue.
These are general recommendations for QDEs to be implemented in FTForm Plus and FormTrap Server queues:
- Include the form filler's ID in the form, if your organization does not have a employee registration number, use email address. (Email address is excellent on documents going outside as this allows return email).
- Use Employee ID as the key for lookup of that employee's closest printer if a printed copy is required.
- Include employee's extension or direct number and possibly mobile number on the form from lookup.
- Archive the PDF either to the Queues, File archive, or the the FormTrap Long Term archive.
- Use the available Lookup Table for the organization name, address, phone and fax numbers, registration number, email address, employee details and other fixed details. If branch is required, do the same there as well.
